This is Defiantly ONE of my TOP THREE!

I have read this one OVER AND OVER ...... and Just recently read it to my eight year old. FORGETTING just how explicit some of the scenes are. (Nothing sexual) More sadning!

So be careful with young ones.

But it really is a great book and worth the read. If you find yourself looking to read something new.

Synopsis

Jonas's world is perfect. Everything is under control. There is no war or fear of pain. There are no choices. Every person is assigned a role in the community. When Jonas turns 12 he is singled out to receive special training from The Giver. The Giver alone holds the memories of the true pain and pleasure of life. Now, it is time for Jonas to receive the truth. There is no turning back.

Annotation
Given his lifetime assignment at the Ceremony of Twelve, Jonas becomes the receiver of memories shared by only one other in his community and discovers the terrible truth about the society in which he lives.

I understand that the age might throw people off... But the descriptions, in simplicity .. ITS A GREAT BOOK!
